WELCOME TO OUR RESEARCH GROUP
In the Koo Research Group, we falls into two area, namely the investigation of polymer nanostructure/properties and the creation of new sustainable materials related to the 4th industrial revolution, such as, energy storage, sensors, and water desalination membranes etc. The nanomaterials science effort is directed toward the graphene based nanoelectronic devices. From our inspiration from biology, we engineered biomimetic structures using graphene nanomaterials. We focused on the graphene-based electrodes for high performance Li-ion battery and supercapacitor. We also studies the basic science of the polymer adhesion and dynamics at the interface. These studies will employ cutting-edge time-resolved synchrotron x-ray and cold neutron scattering techniques. We specially designed new sample environment equipment facilitating in-situ measurement of extreme experimental condition, such as temperature, electric field and magnetic field and pressure etc. All of the work mentioned above involves extensive collaborations with international coworkers at the National Lab. in U.S.A and Japan (i.e., National Institute of Standard and Technology, Oak Ridge National Lab, and Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex) a regular basis.
