Structure is a complex system composed of elements arranged together. It is basically considered from the point of view of the whole rather than of any single element. We aim to design a most efficient structural system, create novel structural materials, and provide innovative engineering solutions for structures.
ADOPT intends to encompass all the aspects of the analysis and design optimization of structures. We try to: 1) understand the physical behaviours of structures against loads, 2) seek novel structural materials and systems, 3) determine the ultimate capacity of structures, 4) find the best possible form and force flow of structures, and 5) develope innovative design optimization technologies for our sustainable research on structures.
Our main interests have resided in the fundamentals on finite element technologies, recently with isogeometric concepts, for safer and efficient structural systems. Furthermore, we are keen on the development of design optimization technologies, for size, shape, topology optimizations, which has been utilized in our designing novel materials, members and systems for structures.
