Welcome to the Haptics Laboratory at Kyung Hee University.
We do haptics! Haptics is the science and technology dealing with the sense of touch. Haptics covers diverse range of topics, including the understanding of human sensorimotor ability, mechanics and electronics principles required to build haptic interfaces, and computational algorithms for modeling and rendering haptic environments. We are pursuing research in most of these areas but more intensively focusing on
- Developing computationally accurate and efficient haptic modeling and rendering algorithms
- Designing usable haptic interfaces using smart materials and techniques
- Evaluating haptic systems based on psychophysics.
In addition to haptics, we are also interested in augmented/virtual reality applications, tangible user interface design, and their combination with haptics.
We aim at applying the above outcomes to various application areas including medical training/assisting system, sensorimotor skill transfer, virtual reality gaming and education
