Our research interest have been focused on Spectroscopy, Biochemical nano-sensors, and Computer simulations.
Our research activities have involved the spectroscopic properties of polyatomic molecules and molecular solids in the visible and ultraviolet regions of the spectrum. External electric fields have been combined with spectroscopic observations to obtain information about charge distributions in molecules and molecular aggregates and to study electronic energy transfer processes.
Our group is interested in the development of biochemical nano-sensors. Our lab uses nano-size light sources and the small and fast chemical sensors. This enables optical, spectral and chemical imaging on a nanometer scale. Novel fiber-optic and nano-sphere sensors (for pH, calcium, zinc, potassium, sodium, chloride, nitrite, nitric oxide, glucose and oxygen) reduce the sample volume and detection limit a billion-fold, and simultaneously the response time by a factor of a thousand.
Computer simulations and stochastic theories accompany the experimental work.
