(RESEARCH INTERESTS)
The goal of functional genomics is to understand the relationship between an organism's genome and its phenotype. In our lab, the functions of genes involved in cancer, genetic diseases, or other malfunctions are studied by using microarray, NGS (next generation sequencing) analysis and high-throughput studies.
Whole exome sequencing
- Transcriptional deregulation plays a critical role in the development of many cancers.
- Transcriptional deregulation include alterations in the expression or structure of proteins that modulate transcription directly or through epigenetic modifications.
- In many cancers, the somatic mutations and the pathognomonic translocations involve genes that encode transcription factors.
- We are trying to understand a mechanism of how somatic mutations modifies the activity of these transcription factors and their participation in transcriptional networks.
