Buildings should be properly designed to resist lateral actions such as wind and earthquake. Especially this is more pronounced in construction of medium- and high-rise buildings which are considered as one of solutions to problems caused from urbanization in many developing and developed countries. Laboratory of building vibration control concentrates on the development of high-performance vibration control devices in order to provide structural stability and to limit building dynamic response to acceptable level. Examples of such devices are base isolation systems and energy dissipating devices of which structural performance is demonstrated by full-scale experiments and nonlinear static and time-history analyses. Recently, the further development of self-centering systems that are considered as the most cutting edge technology in earthquake engineering community is the main topic of the laboratory of 수building vibration control.
