GLOBECOM 2016 학회는 International Conference on Communications (ICC) 와 더불어 IEEE Communications Society(ComSoc)에서 주관하는 가장 큰 학술회의 중 하나로 미국 Washington, DC 에서 12월 4일부터 5일 간 개최될 예정이다. GLOBECOM 학회는 지금의 IEEE Global Communications Conference 라는 이름이 확정된 2003년 이후로 매년 개최되어 올해 14회를 맞이하는 전통 깊은 통신/네트워크 학회라 할 수 있다.
본 학회에서는 매년 약 3000 개의 논문이 제출 되어 약 30~40% 의 채택률로 우수한 연구 결과물들이 발표 되고 있으며 저명한 학계 학술 자들과의 교류를 통해 현재 학계의 연구동향을 파악 할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 전세계 각자의 통신/네트워크 관련 기업들의 참여를 독려하기 위해 Industry forum and exhibition (IF&E) program 도 준비하고 있어 산업계의 동향을 파악할 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 보인다.
본인은 Selected Areas in Communications: Internet of Things 에서 “Oliot-Discovery Service: Dealing with Performance and Security Issues from Intra-DS aspect for IoT” 이라는 논문을 발표 하게 되었으며, 학회 및 학회 내 행사 등에 적극 참석하여 해외의 선진 동향 및 정보를 습득하고 이를 분석할 예정이다. 본 학회 Technical paper 의 연구 분야는 아래와 같다.

본 학회는 IEEE Communications Society(ComSoc)에서 주관하는 가장 큰 학회 중 하나로서 학계뿐만 아니라 산업 계의 저명한 연구자들이 한자리에 모여 서로의 연구 분야를 공유 발전 시키는 계기를 마련할 것입니다. 그리고 본 학회의 연구 분야들은 본인이 연구하고 있는 IP 기반 무선 센서 네트워크 및 Internet of Things 분야와 밀접한 관련이 있어 관련 연구 분야의 최근 동향을 파악 할 수 있을 것 입니다. 또한, 본 학회에 참여한 통신/네트워크 분야 전문가들과의 교류를 통해 해외의 선진 연구 기술 및 정보를 습득하고 학회 보고서 작성을 통해 습득한 정보를 국내 연구자들과 공유할 수 있다면 국내 연구자들이 통신/네트워크 분야에서 한층 발전된 연구를 하는데 도움을 줄 것입니다.
