Society for Redox Biology and Medicine(SFRBM)은 1987년에 창설된 이래 Impact factor 5.736 에 준하는 Free Radical Biology and Medicine (FRBM) journal을 출간하고 있고 20여개국의 수 백명의 과학자들이 참여하는 명실상부한 국제학술대회로 인정 받고 있습니다. 이번 개최되는 23번째 Annual Meeting은 Society for Free Radical Research International (SfRBM/SFRRI) 과의 Joint meeting 으로써 아래와 같은 Redox Biology 분야에 대한 심도 있는 학술행사가 진행될 예정입니다.

사람들이 막연히 알고만 있는 활성 산소는 심혈관질환, 당뇨, 염증반응, 노화, 암과 같은 심각한 질병에 폭넓게 관여되어 있고, 이러한 질병 치료 연구를 위하여 화학, 생물학, 생화학 전분야에 걸쳐 Redox biology를 통한 세포간 또는 세포내 신호전달과 메커니즘 규명, 세포내 항상성 연구는 너무나도 당연하게 짚고 넘어가야할 분야가 되었습니다. 이런 관점에서 이번 심포지움은 전반적인 Redox signaling research 의 최근 동향을 분석하는데 의의가 있고 특히나 Small Molecule Probe 를 이용하여 세포내 활성산소를 직접적으로 측정하고, chemical engineering을 통하여 therapeutic drug development 연구 결과에 대한 토론이 진행될 예정이기에 이번 참석으로 그에 관련한 내용을 업데이트 하고자 합니다.
