바이오연료기반 액체연료는 화석연료를 대체하는 에너지원이다. 일반적으로 식량자원을 공급원으로 할 경우 식량문제와 상충되기 때문에 비식량원 즉, 농가의 폐곡물류, 도시의 음식쓰레기, 폐기름등을 사용한 다양한 바이오연료원에 대한 바이오연료 특성에 대한 리뷰를 하고 있다.
