It does so through reviewing statistics, frameworks and a series of case-studies of different modes of linkage, and of Research Council actions.

BioGuide (2nd edition) 스크랩

This is the 2nd edition of BioGuide and the 4th published DIT guide to biotechnology support and regulations in the UK. The purpose of the BioGuide is to : * identify and bridfly explain existing support and legislation which is applicable to biotechnology * clarify requirements and procedures that companies engaged in biotechnology need to follow * describe how Government departments and agencies discharge their reponsiblities in relation to biotechnology * provide contact points for more detailed information on support and regulations. BioGuide is designed as a reference for those manufactures, importers and academics engaged in biotechnological activities. The descriptions of regulations and procedures are not exhaustive, aiming instead to highlight aspects of R&D, manufacture and trade which are currently or potentially subject to control or support. In each case a contact for further information is provided. The regulations and procedures described apply to the whole of the UK unless stated otherwise. ASCON 2000 - 제7회 아시아 유동층 컨퍼런스 스크랩

아시아 유동층 컨퍼런스는 유동층 및 삼상 반응기에 관한 아시아지역의 학회로서 1988년 동경에서 시작된 이래 한국, 일본, 대만 세국가를 중심으로 2년에 한번씩 열리는 학회이다. 학계 뿐만 아니라 관련 기술을 실질적으로 적용하고 있는 화학 산업계의 연구진도 함께 참가하여 학술 및 기술교류의 장이 되고 있다. 올해는 제7회로서 일본 화학공학회의 주관하에 시즈오카현의 하마나코에서 개최되었다.. 학회는 2개의 분과로 구성되어 있고, 구두발표 50편, 초청강연 2편, 포스터 발표 50편의 논문이 발표되었다. 한국 46명, 일본 70명, 대만 25명, 태국 2명이 참가하였다. 올해 처음으로 태국의 연구자들이 참가하였고 참가 범위가 점차 아시아 지역으로 확대될 전망이다. 이를 기념하여 다음 학회는 2002년 태국의 방콕에서 개최될 예정이다. 이 컨퍼런스의 리포트는 KAIST 화학공학과 박사과정에 계신 정순화님께서 수고해 주셨습니다. 궁금하신 점은 정순화님께 문의하시기 바랍니다. e-mail : s_purify@cais.kaist.ac.kr 첨부화일 .ascon2000 정순화.doc

이동전화와 건강 스크랩

통신산업은 전지구에서 유래없는 속도로 증가하고 있다. 영국의 이동전화 등록자(subscriber)수는 2000년 현재 2천5백만에 달하며 수년내 영국 전인구의 반이 서비스를 이용할것으로 예상된다. 이동전화 사용에 따른 인체에 유해효과에 대한 논란과 관심이 증대하여 보사부장관은 통산성장관과 상의하여 이동통신의 기술의 안전성을 자문하는 독립기구의 출범을 요청했고 국가 방사선 보호위원회(National Radiological Protection Board;NRPB)의 의장에 요청하여 이동통신 독립전문가 그룹(Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones;IEGMP)이 만들어졌다. 이 보고서는 독립그룹의 작업을 보여주며, 이동통신의 기술이 사람에 미치는 영향을 개괄적으로 제시한다. 그 이면에 인체건강과 관련된 실험적이고 이론적인 평가작업을 거쳐 정부에 주는 권고안을 담고 있다 이 자료의 분석은 연세대 원주의대 부교수로 계시는 김수기박사님께서 수고해 주셨습니다. 궁금하신 점은 김수기박사님께 문의하시기 바랍니다. The Ninth Text REtrieval Conference 스크랩

TREC회의는 참여자들이 정보검색의 여러 세부 분야에 대해서 같은 문서집합과 같은 질의집합에 대해서, 주어진 기간동안 검색을 수행하여 검색결과를 제출한다. 제출한 결과에 대해서 같은 평가기준에 따라 성능을 측정하게 된다. TREC 학회는 매년 11월 NIST에서 개최하는데, 참가자들이 모여서 서로의 결과를 비교하고, 연구 방법론을 교환하는 자리이다. 따라서, TREC-9회의의 실제 기간은 2000년 2월부터 11월까지이다.TREC-9의 세부 트랙은 필터링 트랙, 교차언어(영어-중국어) 트랙, 상호작용 트랙, 질의 트랙, 질의 응답 트랙, 음성기록문서 검색 트랙, 웹 검색 트랙으로 구성되어 있다. TREC-9 참가자는 17개국으로부터 70개의 그룹이 참여를 하였다.TREC-10에서는 교차언어 트랙에서는 영어-아랍어 검색을 평가한다. 질의 트랙과 음성기록문서 검색 트랙에 대한 평가는 없어지고, 비디오 검색 트랙과 구조화 문서 검색 트랙이 추가된다.TREC회의가 매년 개최되면서 정보검색의 여러 분야에 대한 객관적인 평가를 위한 테스트컬렉션이 구축된다. 이 회의는 정보검색 연구자들에게는 같은 평가기준에 대해서, 다양한 연구 방법론에 적용한 결과를 비교 평가 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 이 컨퍼런스의 리포트는 한국과학기술원에 계시는 이경순님께서 수고해 주셨습니다. 궁금하신 점은 이경순님께 문의하시기 바랍니다. e-mail : kslee@world.kaist.ac.kr 첨부화일 .REtrieval Conference 이경순.doc

WTEC Panel Report on Digital Information Organization in Japan 스크랩

This report reviews the status of Japanese hardware, systems and applications for digital information organization(DIO) with a particular emphasis on digital libraries. Specific topics include technological development in both hardware and software; practical DIO applications; cooperation among government, industry and universities; and economic and policy issues. The report includes site reports for visits conducted by the panel members to leading research laboratories and universities in Japan. The panel's conclusions include the following:(1) DIO systems in the United States and Japan are based on common, integrated technologies to provide a spectrum of services; (2) Japan is producing extremely fast large-capacity hardware/software research systems; (3) Japan leads the United States in digital display development by about two years; (4) Japanese libraries are digitizing catalogs on a grand scale; (5) distributed digital libraries will revolutionize education and learning; (6) Japan has a clearly articulated national information infrastructure policy that views DIO as critical to "an advaned information society." These and other conclusions are reviewed in detail in the panel's executive summary.
