- Basics of the College Application Process
-
- - The NIH Work/Life Center (WLC) (2010/03/04)
- - Category : Work/Life Center
- The college application process is now so complex that even the most prepared, organized students and their parents can become overwhelmed. This session will help you sort out fact from fiction by explaining how to help your child plan and prepare, decide what considerations to take into account when choosing schools, and how the application and selection process work.
The NIH Work/Life Center (WLC), in cooperation with the NIH Employee Assistance Program, presents the seventh annual ???Faces & Phases of Life??? seminar series for fall 2004.

- Making Ends Meet: Double-Strand Break Repair in Human Cells
-
- - Stephen C. West, Ph.D., London Research Institute (2010/03/04)
- - Category : Wednesday Afternoon Lectures
- Homologous recombination provides an important mechanism by which chromosomal breaks can be efficiently and faithfully repaired. Many of the enzymes that mediate this process in human cells have now been identified and isolated. Central to the process is RAD51, a homolog of the bacterial RecA protein, which mediates homologous pairing and DNA strand exchange reactions that lead to the formation of crossovers between interacting DNA molecules.
