    The Trans-NIH Enrichment Advisory Panel is hosting the inaugural event of its seminar series, sponsored by the NIH Office of Animal Care and Use (OACU) and the Veterinary Resources Program (VRP). This seminar will cover environmental enrichment and other behavioral management strategies for all laboratory animal species. Four presentations relevant to personnel at all levels of animal care and use will cover topics including behavioral management; environmental enrichment as a collaborative strategy; identifying and addressing psychological distress; and documenting a psychological well-being program. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kathryn Bayne of AAALAC International will be giving the first of these presentations. Seminar attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with a variety of environmental enrichment professionals, including several vendors.

    The HHS Office on Disability Second Symposium on Housing for Persons with Disabilities, Understanding Universal Design and Access Modification, is co-sponsored with CMS, Fannie Mae, NCB Development Corporation, and HUD. Objectives are: 1) inform national disability organizations on their role in supporting members on housing accessibility; 2) understand universal design and access modification; 3) provide best practices and lessons learned from state/local community representatives; and 4) provide a roadmap on obtaining residential universal design and access modification for persons with disabilities.
