    Expasy(Expert Protein Analysis System; www.expasy.org or www.expasy.ch)에 들어가 보시면 왼편에 Databases라고 있는데 그 중에 Enzyme database가 있습니다. 이곳을 클릭하신 후 search를 해 보시면 thermolysin에 대한 간단한 정보들이 있습니다. 또한 cross-references에서 다양한 정보를 얻을 수 있습니다. Official Name: Thermolysin. Alternative Name(s) :Bacillus thermoproteolyticus neutral proteinase. Reaction catalysed Preferential cleavage: Xaa-|-Leu > Xaa-|-Phe. Cofactor(s): Zinc; Calcium. Comments: 1) A thermostable extracellular metalloendopeptidase containing four calcium ions. 2) Enzymes that may be species variants of thermolysin are reported from Micrococcus caseolyticus and Aspergillus oryzae. 3) Closely related but distinct enzymes are aeromonolysin, pseudolysin, bacillolysin, aureolysin and mycolysin. Belongs to peptidase family M4. 산업적으로는 Aspartame 합성에 사용됩니다. aspartame은 sucrose보다 200배 이상 단맛을 내는 low calorie sweetner로 dipeptide로 구성되는데 화학합성은 amino acid stereospecificity 때문에 제약이 많아서 enzymatic synthesis 방식을 많이 하는 것으로 알고 있습니다.
