◆ Illustrative Reports 1993-1999 ◆ Illustrative Reports 1993-2000 From its creation vy a congressional charter in 1863, the National Academy of Sciences and its affiliate institutions - the National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Research Council - have been committed to advising the nation on matters of science, technology, and health. Each year, the National Academies, as these institutions are known, issue more than 200 reports and disseminate the information contained in them to the people of the United States and the world. Following are some of the publications released in recent years.
