SPring-8 Research Frontiers describes the remarkable scientific achievements made at all beamlines : public, contract, JAERI/RIKEN, R&D and accelerator diagnosis beamline. Developments in the accelerators and beamlines themselves are also discussed. The first volume covered a period of about on year since the opening of SPring-8 research facility. This second volume covers the research period from the second half of 1998 to the first half of 1999. Many of the newly-opened beamlines had been undergoing preliminary testing and at the time of the first publication. Since that time, most of the preparatory work has been completed and full-time experiments have begun, resulting in a significantly greater number of research descriptions in this second volume.

This report examines broad cyberwarfare issues and raises underlying questions. It summarizes some cases that illustrate real-world concerns many have with respect to cyberwarfare. It discusses the current U.S. policy and organizational approaches to cyberwarfare. It examines foreign perspectives, the issue of cyberterrorism, and some reported instances of cyberwarfare. An appendix on terms and definitions is included. The focus is on cyberwarfare activities sponsored by nation-states, but includes cyberterrorism that is aimed at achieving political objectives at the national level.

Alternative Transportation Fuels and Vehicles : Energy, Environment, and Development Issues 스크랩

Three key laws, the Alternative Motor Fuels Act of 1988(P.L.100-494), the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990(P.L.101-549), and the Energy Policy Act of 1992(P.L.102-486), as well as three Executive Orders, support the development and commercialiation of alternative fuels and alternative fuel vehicles. These legislative acts and administrative actions provide tax incentives to purchase AFVs, promote the expansion of alternative fueling infrastructure, and require the use of FVs by various public and private entities. Several bills in the 106th Congress proposed to expand these programs or create further incentives for alternative fuel and vehicle use. Opponents argue that there are other, more cost-effective ways of promoting clean air and energy conservation. This report reviews these issues.

첨부자료가 없어 원문신청을 할 수 없는 자료입니다. All parties agree tha tencryption is essential to the growth of electronic commerce and use of the Internet, but there is little consensus beyond that. Seven bills on encryption or computer security have been introduced in the 105th Congress. Hearings have been held in several House and Senate committees. The Administration's Policy Promotes the use of strong eneryption, here and abroad, as long as it is designed with “key recovery“ features where a “key recovery agent“ holds a “spare key“ to decrypt the information. The Administration would require key recovery agents to make the decryption key available to duly authorized federal and state government entities. Privacy advocates worry that law enforcement entities would have too much access to private information.
