But without strandards it's tough to make good decisions about avaliable product and almost impossible to ascertain system capability □ Nidac's new Sentrol 8-zone Sentrol has entered the eight-zone alarm panel market in Australia with the release of the full-featured ZX200, a competitively-price system with a wide selection of keypads and capable fire reporting □ Riding thermals Once the stuff of Hollywood fables, thermal imaging cameras are poised to take the stage as powerful and effective security tools. They can be used to track intruders in extreme conditions, or employed in support of traditional surveillance cameras. □ CCTV system design CCTV system design is a subjective matter. Different people tend to design systems differently. There is no best way or only way to system design and not all CCTV systems are equal. □ Sony Digital recorder HSR-1 We took a brief look at Sony's HSR-1 a few months ago. But in this month's bench test, Vlado Damjanovski gets up close and personal with Sony's new digital recorder. □ Panels on a single line Some years ago there was a revolution in alarm communications. It allowed major organisations to globally report alarms on a single line to a dedicated PC reciever at a monitoring station, but it was too expensive for smaller businesses to access. Now a new release will change all that.
