The Blueprint for the next round of Foresight, published in December 1998, set out the Government's plans for taking the UK Foresight Program forward to November 2000. It indicated that from April 1999 the program would center on thirteen panels-ten sectoral panels focused on business sectors or broader areas of activity and three thematic panels addressing broad social and economic issues-and that each panel would be asked to consider education, skills and training issues and the implication of its proposals for sustainable development as underpinning themes fundamental to realising any meaningful vision of the future. As the Blueprint explained, the Matine panel, which formed part of the previous round of Foresight, will continue to operate until September when a decision on its future will be taken. The Bluprint also announced the setting up of Associate Programs designed to enable professional institutions and other organisations to contribute specialist knowledge and expertise to Foresight and the creation of the Foresight Knowledge Pool to support the work of panels and the development of new and expanded networks of Foresight participants. This document picks up where the Blueprint left off. It provides details of panel membership and, in each case, outlines panel's initial thinking on: - objectives - Work programs for the period to November 2000 Panels would welcome comments and expressions of interest in contributing to work on particular issues.
