Nuclear Warhead 스크랩

Rocky Flats Plant, near Denver, was the only U.S. site that made pits, the fissile cores of thermonuclear warheads, on a large scale. The Department of Energy (DOE) suspended pit production there in 1989. Since then, the United States has been unable to make any pits that qualify for the stockpile, so it cannot make all-new nuclear warheads of existing or advanced new designs. Two pit projects are underway. This report presents construction costs for the two projects that might total some $5 billion. It presents DOE's plan and issues for Congress.

학회 소개 : Information Visualisation 2001 -IV2001 학회는 올해로 제 5회를 맞는 정보가시화 국제학술대회이다. 정보의 시각화라는 주제를 컴퓨터 그래픽스라는 분야에만 국한되기보다는 시각정보를 받아들여 인지되는 과정을 연구하는 인지공학이라는 근본 연구에서부터, 컴퓨터 소프트웨어 디자인, 일반 소비자 정보기기 디자인, 의학기기 디자인 등 다양해진 그 응용분야들까지 포함하여 광범위한 토론의 장을 열기 위함을 목표로 한다.매해 런던에서 열리는 이 학회는, 올 해에도 변함없이 런던에서 열렸고 유럽 각국과 미국, 일본, 한국, 중국의 연구자들이 참가한 가운데 진행되었다. 초청강사로는 영국 Imperial College의 시각정보 디자인 전문가 Robert Spence, 미국의 University of Maryland의 HCI Lab. 을 이끌고 있는 Ben Shneiderman, 미국 Microsoft사의 연구자 Mary Czerwinski 가 있었다. 이로 짐작해 볼 수 있듯이 컴퓨터 관련 기기에 응용되는 정보 디자인을 위주로 토론이 진행되었다. 이 학회의 보고서는 파리 국립고등과학기술원(Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers Paris) 신제품 디자인 연구실 (Laboratoire Conception de Produits Nouveaux et Innovation)에 계신 임덕신님께서 수고해 주셨습니다. 궁금하신 점은 임덕신님께 문의하시기 바랍니다. e-mail : dokshin.lim@paris.ensam.fr 첨부. 5th Int. The project that is the subject of this report was approved by the Governing Board of the National Researchj Council, whose members are drawn from the councils of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine. This report has been reviewed by persons other than the authors according to procedures approved by a Report Review Committee consisting of members of the National procedures approved by a Report Review Committee consisting of members of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine. Many people have questioned the advisability of encouraging women to go into S&E careers at a time when there are few job openings in some fields. Conferees agreed that, particularly in difficult times, it is essential for companies to have the most talented people, whatever their gender or race. Clearly the essential recommendations that emerged from the conference that will benefit women will also benefit men and will be critical to the health of the corporate sector. Contents I. VA(Veterans Affairs) is continuing to make progress in improving its overall IT(Information Technology) management; however, important actions in several areas remain imcomplete and require continued attention and decisions from the department's executive management. To begin with, the department has yet to fill the position of assistant secretary for information and technology, created in June 1998 and intended to serve as VA's chief information officer (CIO). It is critical that the department fill this leadership position to help the Secretary's executive management team fully address VA's critical IT challenges and achieve improvements in investment results that support the department's programs and operations.
